|forbidden planet signing|

REPORT BY PAUL KAVANAGH

As advertised on David's brilliant Catweazle Homepage, the video signing session on Saturday 4th July 1998, at the "Forbidden Planet", in London UK, went ahead as planned. With Geoffrey Bayldon and Robin Davies turning up to promote the long awaited and much anticipated Catweazle video release.

They arrived dead on time at 12.30 pm, and already there were about 25 people waiting to greet them, my first impression on seeing Geoffrey was that he has aged very well considering that Catweazle, is nearly celebrating its 30th anniversary. Robin also has aged well and you can still see that character of the ginger haired Carrot he played all those years ago.

After about 30 minutes the number of people who had come to meet them had risen to about 50, mostly within the age of between 30 to 40 years old. Everyone formed a queue to buy the videos and then took them up to be signed by Geoffrey & Robin, who were sitting at a table quite happily shaking hands with everyone, talking to them, and signing their videos.

Then it came to my turn and I was really thrilled at last to meet, and speak to Geoffrey and Robin, and ask them why it had taken all these years to bring my favourite childhood series out onto video. They both agreed that it was long over due, but now they were really excited that it had finally come out on video, and they could not quite believe all the interest it has generated with people. They said they were going to be behind it all the way and promote it in the best way they possibly could.

In all I think the day was a great success, and it just goes to show how many people remembered that lovable magician in that old brown robe of his, with his equally famous brother in magic, Carrot. My very special thanks to you both for not only making my day one to remember, but also loads of others as well, enabling each person to bring back a piece of their childhood that they all thought they had forgotten!

Once again a big thank you Geoffrey and Robin, and I wish you all the best in the future for everything that you do!

[Many thanks to Paul for this report, and his wife for the great photos]
